Road Database (BCP)

Description
The Road Management System is based on the Road Database. Without a single address system, as the first requirement, and without the collected road data it is impossible to develop a road control and management system.
The spatial character of the road data, which is their main trait, requires georeferencing and graphic presentation of data. Road network control and management presents an ideal area within which the effects of the use of GIS technology as a visualizer, integrator system and tool for the support in the decision-making process result in an upgrade to the entire system. The Road Database is based on the relative position principle. All the data is collected with regard to the link - basic road entity. The use of GIS technology enables complex analyses between the data collected in that manner with the help of dynamic segmentation.
BCP integration into management systems (Pavement Management, Bridge Management, Asset Management) enables efficient management of the road network of classified roads in the Republic of Croatia.

"Map Production" Solution

Objectives
- automating and facilitating map production in GeoMedia environment
- creating Croatian language interface

Description
The "Map Production" program product was made in the form of three custom orders that enable simple and automatic production of thematic maps in GeoMedia environment. Without requiring the specialist GIS know-how and with minimal knowledge of GeoMedia operation, the "Map Production" program product enables fast production of high-quality thematic maps to a broad range of users.
The selection of map contents is intuitive and the user, depending on the activated order, can pick a section of the network of classified roads (highways, state, county or local roads), borders (state, county or municipal), settlements, hydrography, traffic locations (ferries, airports), railways, border crossings, counting points, meteo stations. In addition to vector content, the product enables raster presentation.
The result of realization of any of the three existing orders is a map ready to be printed out or stored in one of the raster formats (.tif, .jpg).

"Border Crossing" Solution

Objectives
- creating integral GIS-supported solution
- setting up border crossing database
- approach to comprehensive border crossing information
Description
The Border Crossing Records solution is an example of integration of Oracle forms application with an integrated window showing a picture of a particular border crossing and a GIS window with an interactive map following the exact position of the border crossing and its surroundings.
Zooming is possible in the GIS window, panning on the interactive map, while the currently active border crossing is highlighted on the GIS background.
Border crossings and other relevant data in GIS environment are shown in the picture.

Application Overview
"Subdivision Studies" Solution

Objectives
- analysis and automatic input of data collected in the field (geodesic shots of old and newly created plots in AutoCAD - .dwg format) into existing Oracle database
- property-legal and financial monitoring of current state of expropriation on road sections under construction
- integration into existing business system
Description
The "Subdivision Studies" solution is used for processing of the graphic part of subdivision studies. AutoCAD design created on the basis of a defined model that contains all plots of land relevant for the section of the new road constitutes input data.
The processing of the AutoCAD document begins with the input of "raw" CAD data into the auxiliary Access base, followed by the creation of area features, analysis and verification of the acquired areas and their attribution in preparation for links with alphanumeric data in other subsystems. Upon completion of processing and verification of new data, the plots of land are entered into the existing strata of the Oracle database that are linked with alphanumeric data in other subsystems.
The entire process of processing the graphic part of the subdivision study has been automated by the creation of custom orders that guarantee simplicity and reliability of processing, as well as reduce the need for the specialist GIS/CAD know-how.
In addition to CAD Data Processing, the solution also enables simple visualization of current state of every plot of land within a single or several subdivision studies.
