Objectives

  • automating creation of annual reports on the state of oil and gas reserves
  • establishing information technology standards for GIS-supported systems
  • development of open system accessible to a large number of users

Description

Drawing up of the annual balance sheet of mineral resources reserves in the Republic of Croatia requires automatization of Records of Reserves of Oil, Condensates and Natural Gas, as well as generation of alphanumeric and corresponding cartographic reports.

The solution development includes setting up a single base of alphanumeric and corresponding spatial data (thanks to Oracle Spatial) by converting the existing data from various sources. A client-server platform, in which all users have up-to-date access to all data, has been established both in GIS viewer and ORACLE forms, which defines the standards for the establishment of Integral Information System with a central corporate database.

Thanks to the development concept in which the GIS role is to integrate various subsystems into a whole, the benefits of GIS technology have been made accessible at all user levels, not only to specialists. Due to its user-friendly qualities, as well as to the new concept in the use of GIS technology, experts from the Exploration Service are now able to create reports for the Balance Sheet fully independently without the assistance of GIS specialists, which guarantees consistency between alphanumeric reports and the corresponding maps.
